Anna Kirey is a queer feminist activist currently based in London and working for Europe and Central Asia Regional Office of Amnesty International. Anna also worked for Open Society Foundations on supporting trans and intersex rights work and for Human Rights Watch on LGBTI issues in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. As an activist Anna co-founded Labrys organization in Kyrgyzstan and took part in an number of lesbian and trans rights initiatives in Central Asia, Ukraine and Russia. Currently Anna is on leave exploring feminist parenthood with her spouse Yana who is a Russian trans* feminist and baby Mika.
Abstract: In my presentation I will discuss the experience of our Ukrainian-Russian new queer family in the United Kingdom and reflect on the politics of exclusion of lesbians and trans people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
