Dr Susan Hawthorne has been a lesbian feminist activist for more than 40 years and author of fourteen books. Born in Australia, she writes poetry, fiction, non-fiction and performance scripts. For ten years she was an aerialist in two women’s circuses. With Renate Klein she co-founded the radical feminist press Spinifex 26 years ago. Three of her non-fiction books have been published in German, including Biblidiversität: Manifest für unhabhängiges Publizieren (2017). Her most recent book is Dark Matters: A novel (2017). Dark Matters traces the story of Kate who is arrested and tortured for her lesbian activism.
