Leila is a Swiss/American lesbian activist currently based in Brussels, Belgium. She has been active in LGBT rights activism since 2006 when she founded Think Out, Geneva’s LGBTQ student network. As part of her presidency of Think Out, Leila co-founded Totem for LGBTQ youth, and the Geneva Federation of LGBT Associations.

Since 2012, Leila has supported the implementation of humanitarian projects with UNHCR, the Women’s Refugee Commission and the Organisation for Refuge, Asylum & Migration, where she has worked with refugee youth and LGBTQ refugees and asylum seekers. She also spent 4 months in Greece in 2017 at Lesvos Solidarity (Pikpa camp) as a volunteer worker.

In 2017, Leila was coordinator of the European Lesbian* Conference in Vienna; At EL*C, Leila continues to provide coordination support, especially for the second European Lesbian* Conference in Kyiv. In parallel, Leila is Policy Officer at Inspire – European Partnership for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
